From My Thoughts To Yours

Cold Outside

Posted by Uncle T on August 22, 2008

I would like to have a long time goal, and that would be to one day be able to sketch/draw.

To help me on my way to that goal, I’m going to use this iPhone app called Netsketch. Check out how this got sketched out on mynetsketch.net. You’ll find my sketches when you do a search for “uncle t”.

The Jump

The Jump, originally uploaded by UncleT.
“Don’t do it! There’s so much still to see in life!”crowed the barnyard animals that had gathered below the shopping cart kiosks. But it didn’t matter. The pigs were decidedly going to take the plunge. Years of being called “Porky” or “Pinky” had taken their toll.

Pinky, especially, used to comment during some of her more reflective moments about her long-suffering dislike of things pink.

Never spoken of, but surely in the back of their heads, the barnyard animals knew something might happen one day. They just never imagined that Porky would follow…

That’s One Hell Of A Bicycle Wheel!, originally uploaded by UncleT.

falling off your bicycle can be embarassing.falling off your bicycle when there is no one around to see you fall off your bicycle is not so bad.falling off your bicycle when you are a 30-Storey giant who has crashed and has his front bicycle wheel sticking up from the ground is downright humiliating.

It Came From Terra Firma

It Came From Terra Firma, originally uploaded by UncleT.

Some called it the creep, others were more inclined to name it by other more sinister names. However, none could dispute the obvious; fingers, or perhaps tentacles, eminating from some mysterious well of nature that wanted to engulf the cold, hard facade of modern life.

Escargot? Chili Crab?

Escargot? Chili Crab?, originally uploaded by UncleT.

Cold and damp. These were the only real issues that bothered Harry. And really, what more was there to complain about in this aquatic lifestyle of his?

Fresh seafood, door to door delivery…weren’t these the perks of being up there with the top dogs in the food chain? Granted, he was getting slightly tired of this slug of a meal. Just one of those really generic types that seemed to invariably find their way to Chez Harry — no doubt due to their lack of ability to distinguish rocky outcrop from hungry crab.

Web

reminding her of the pictures of arteries in her biology text book, Cynthia was awestruck at the dense web of life hovering just over her head. each little leaf and thin branch seemed to twist and turn, until a beautiful canvas revealed itself to her.

Where Do You Go From Here?

Where Do You Go From Here?, originally uploaded by UncleT.

This is the hole that’s taken the place,
Of what used to be a former reading space;
a building of red brick had once stood.
Travel inside it now to find not knowledge and writings,
but rather the way to materialistic sightings.

BUBBLE-UP!

BUBBLE-UP!, originally uploaded by UncleT.

never before in the remembered history of the dreamdom, had anyone recalled a moment so mesmerizing as the one that was happening now. pulsating softly in the night sky, the dream spheres effortlessly coalesced into what some imagined to be a DNA double helix. was there some magical life force somehow forming from a primordial soup of muggy night air?

We All Go To Work

We All Go To Work, originally uploaded by UncleT.

there were many ways for Carlos to get to work. unfortunately the problem was in getting from the bed to the many ways of getting to work. maybe, if he concentrated really really hard, one day, he’d be able to teleport from the bed to the shower to his clothes and then to work. ya ta!

Dude, You’ve Got Bag Duty Again!

Dude, You’ve Got Bag Duty Again!, originally uploaded by UncleT.

you know how all those news stories go — that in today’s conflicts, the military must win the hearts and minds of the population they are sent to protect?

well, to stormtrooper TK-3895, the directive was more along the lines of “you gotta be a SNAG” (sensitive new age grunt). though of course, to his troopmates, it went more along the lines of “dude, you got bag duty again”.

Then They Shouted: Pull The Brakes!

Then They Shouted: Pull The Brakes!, originally uploaded by UncleT.

definitely, one of the main reasons for taking this photo is that it’s a purple tractor. the other thing is, a runaway tractor can’t be good news for your average contractor. right after I shot this, one of the workers came to ask me what I was doing taking photos. I said something to the effect that I had never seen a purple tractor before, and he suggested that next time, I take a picture when it was sunnier.

The Buggers Have Descended On Earth

this little bugger (excuse the pun) was actually on the wall outside my house door. so basically, he’s 90 degrees in relation to the floor. sometimes insects really seem to be ‘alien’…

Pilot Wings

Has anyone see this? Back in the 80’s SIA had this kids club open for those who traveled a certain number of times with them. Dad was with the Tourism Promotion Board at the time, and I suppose I ‘clocked’ enough flight hours to enroll in the club.

All this came in a mail, containing this pin and certificate conferring my flight status. Don’t know if I actually wore it during my subsequent trips, but I do remember this being the first pin I ever collected :)

the traveler stood at the foot of the monstrous form, veins and sinews of gnarled bark and trunk hovering ominously over him. it seemed to mock the traveler, telling him “see what I have gone through little one? the fires, the freezing cold, the infestations… and all you can do is gawk and take pictures of me”.

Let’s Go To The Zoo

A staple favourite to many of the Zoo’s tourists and locals alike, the ‘Big Cats of Asia’ exhibits (and its sister companion ‘Up Close With Tiger’ featured at the Night Safari) had been looking for a fresh angle.

It was just a matter of time until The Urban Jungle took on a whole new meaning with the opening of the ‘Cars of Asia’ exhibit….

in the tropical darkness, the herd cautiously drinks from the watering hole. 2 at a time they sip, with the rest of their kind instinctively keeping virgil. they know, as do all those who are preyed upon know, that survival itself is dependant on what can be heard.
